The short answer

There is no wiki-style Reddit hub run alongside the game. The dependable way in is the Steam Community hub for Beyond These Stars: its "Join the Beyond These Stars Community" post points players to Reddit together with Discord, X/Twitter, Bluesky, YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. As of 2026-10-17, that Steam Community post names Reddit among the game's channels without spelling out the subreddit name in its visible text, so start at the hub and follow the Reddit link from there rather than guessing a subreddit address.

If Reddit feels quiet in launch week, the Steam Discussions tab on that same hub is where the conversation actually is. Beyond These Stars released on 16 October 2026, so most threads are days old and still being answered.

What players were actually asking in launch week

A few recurring threads give a fair picture of where new players get stuck.

Soot. A thread titled "Not Enough Soot" describes long stretches of waiting on soot production, with the poster noting that soot felt over-produced in the demo and now feels scarce, and that running burners or ore smelters hard enough to make it leaves them flooded with iron and copper. That is one player's comparison of demo versus release, not a measured balance figure.

Composting. "My landscapers are not doing composting jobs" reports landscapers not performing composting work and a composter too slow to keep pollution in check while the player tries to switch to tree planting.

Power hookups. In a story-step thread, a burner generator and an adjacent ore smelter both report no power connection, and the player cannot find a way to link them. It is worth knowing this comes up, because the step blocks progress if you read it as a bug.

Hut upgrades. Another thread asks whether huts can be upgraded to houses or whether every hut has to be bulldozed and rebuilt, and suggests an upgrade button in the hut tooltip.

Tone. One invited playtester's review calls the game cozy, relaxing, story-driven and exploration-focused, praises quality-of-life changes over Before We Leave, and warns that players who want to shuffle workers between jobs and min-max output will be disappointed. A separate thread, "Am I the only one?", questions whether the space-whale premise is too ridiculous — the setting clearly gets debated, which is itself a decent reason to read a few threads before buying.

Practical pointers

  • Patch notes land on the Steam hub. Hotfix #1 fixed buildings getting stuck mid-move when Peeps cancelled their task, changed the Power Generator's selection line to show power range instead of pollution range, and fixed Korean appearing in the language dropdown. If a generator's range circle looked wrong to you, check you are on the patched build.
  • Before posting a "how do I" question, the developer's Beginner's Guide — linked from the Steam hub and credited there to Antony of Hooded Horse — covers settlement building, caring for Peeps and Kewa, terraforming, technology and perks.
  • For the power-connection and composting reports above, the threads themselves are the best place to ask, since answers depend on the exact build and story step a player is on.
  • The Fandom wiki page for the game can serve a security-verification screen instead of article text, so it is not a reliable quick reference in the way the Steam discussions are.
